In Brief

  • Back-to-back doubles for Irish apprentice.
  • Byrne-Burke's confidence was high heading into meeting.
  • Two from two a great result.

Erica Byrne-Burke saluted aboard Sharma Rama in the 0-60 Handicap (1009m) for her master Adam Trinder and doubled up with stablemate Cheeky One in the CUB Brewery Maiden over 1350m.

Byrne Burke, who hails from Ireland, started out in Sydney but landed in Trinder's stable last year after answering an advertisement.

"Erica has started to get the results of hard work and today she delivered on two horses that had to be ridden well to get the desired result," Trinder said.

The talented apprentice has notched four winners and needs only one more to lose her four-kilogram claim.

"I appreciate getting the opportunities on some nice horses," Byrne-Burke said.

"I guess your confidence lifts when you get a double, that was the case going into this meeting.

"I felt really good about by chances of winning a couple today."

Byrne-Burke only had two rides at the meeting so she walked away with a perfect strike rate.
