The Hyperion Stakes is being held this weekend as the third leg of the Winter series.

Once again it is a good sized field and the pace should be genuine so why not stick with our good mate The Velvet King who was fantastic resuming.

He landed in a great spot and even when the leader slipped them all around the bend, once he regathered his poise, he charged over the top.

If anything you'd expect the mile to suit him more and from the barrier, he won't even have to do any work to land on the back of the pace.

When some of the others need to rebound and find their best, we know he's in a very good frame of mind. We just need to be worried about that lethal combination down the bottom.

That very collaboration of Pike/Williams/Peters has a real value hope in the race prior as Zaratite kicks back off at the mile.

Clearly he is viewed as a stayer so the trip will be short of his best but he's promising enough from the eight runs he's had.

Half of them are wins and the rain that is around takes the sharpness out of the rivals. He's had two trials as well.

No doubt he'll be back and needing to make a long run but if things go awry up front, he's a lovely play at the each way odds. The market will tell.
