About to go on a family holiday, apprentice Jacob Opperman may wish to delay it after riding a career high five winners at Morphettville Parks

Opperman had his claim reduced from 3kg to 2kg in the city after Saturday's haul which came for five different trainers.

Included in his winners were four favourites along with two for interstate trainers – Leon & Troy Corstens and for with Patrick Payne

Opperman's winners were Royal Obsession ($2.35 fav), Jaguary ($3.50 fav), Icecrusher ($4.20), Imperial Hilton ($2.15 fav) and Greetings Ned ($3.70 fav).

The apprentice was hoping to round out the day aboard Rohlon Drunk, a horse trained by his father Jamie Opperman, but it could finish only third.

"It's big thrill," Opperman told racing.com.

"I didn't expect to win five. I was hoping to maybe win on my dad's horse and make it six, but five is pretty good."

Opperman said he had previously had good books of rides when riding, but has on occasions left empty handed.

"I felt coming here I've had favourites before but they haven't come up to standard, so it's been really good today," he said.

Opperman's fifth winner Greetings Ned had to overcome the pattern of Saturday's program that was favouring on-pace runners.

"It was a bit tricky where we were as the horses in front weren't that good so I had to come around them quite quickly," Opperman said.

"He balanced up and hit the line. That was good."
