2021 MCEWEN STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS
Expecting Esta La Roca to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint trip. The return of PORTLAND SKY (3) is a key point of interest. Two Valley runs have been crackers (including a Group Three win on wet ground) and came of age last prep winning the Oakleigh Plate. Arguably even better when runner up in the William Reid here behind a star.
SEPTEMBER RUN (8) rattled on home behind him that night from an awkward spot. She was awesome in the Lightning fresh at 1000m last prep but where she lands in running around the Valley is a query. Thinking that THE INFERNO (1) can be a sharp improver second up. Pulled up with excuses fresh and has had that Australian run to blow the cobwebs off now. ESTA LA ROCA (9) ran a big race around here last time. Far deeper contest now but can give them all plenty to catch.
