"A few anxious moments back there in a 1000 metre race. Certainly wasn't the plan and he was a bit messy away. He ended up where he was.
"We gave him three weeks between what we thought was maybe a touch disappointing second-up. You don't expect to win but you hope you can come back here, drop back a cog and can do the job. Then go back in grade again."
Winning Jockey: Damian Lane
"He just dwelt at the start again. He's probably done it basically all three starts this campaign. That was a bit of an excuse in the barriers last time but there was none today.
"I'm not sure why he's doing that and he was able to regain composure and I thought 300 metres out that I was the winner.
"First-up it was a race with no speed and he just landed outside the leader. Second-up it was weak speed and he didn't want to follow so it forced our hand a couple of times.
"Today with the good horses to follow and drag him into the race it worked out well."
Sticking to similar races - agreeing with Ellerton: "I think he's got the right idea in mind - keep to his age group, up to 1100 metres up the straight. We know he goes really well there. I think that's a realistic option for him.
"He's going to clash with some of the better colts again but he's a high class colt and hopefully he can get back to that level."
