2021 VICTORIA DERBY – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS
Zoumon, Character and Cerberus prominent in a big field where the pressure for spots early looks like being high. Long tail, as is typical for a Derby, but the top end looks strong.
GUNSTOCK (4) has had a perfect preparation for this. Strong through the line when winning fresh. A touch lazy in the Super Impose but again strong late in the piece and then sharpened by the blinkers last time when winning the Caulfield Classic and setting himself right up to run a big race in this. He looks the most reliable.
HITOTSU (9) has to overcome a big jump in trip but with the right yard to do it. Rating was very strong in the Guineas where he was alongside FORGOT YOU (1) who went on and won the Vase last week. He has always looked like a strong stayer in the making. ALEGRON (3) comes up from Sydney where he has run well in the Gloaming and the Spring Champion. Good form for this and tipping he measures right up.
