2021 WAKEFUL STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS
El Patroness and Barb Raider can set an easy tempo. Thought BARB RAIDER (4) did a terrific job going back in trip to the 1000 Guineas. Rough and willing race but she stuck at the task gamely to finish third and will be better suited back to Flemington and out to 2000m.
Think she controls the pace with EL PATRONESS (3) who comes back from racing the colts. Won the Super Impose, beating one of the top Derby hopes in Gunstock, and then game behind the same one last time. DAISIES (2) had been shaping with promise before getting to 2000m and being put into the race last time. Showed her true talent winning the Ethereal and that stacks up.
The other big Caulfield winner in the race is YEARNING (1). Powered over the top to win the 1000 Guineas and bred to be better at 2000m. No easy task carrying the penalty to win here but she's a good filly.
