Sydney’s world-class Spring racing program continues at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday with the $1 million Inglis Rural Property Golden Gift providing a pathway for entry into the world’s richest race for two-year-olds.
With the third running of the $1 million Inglis Rural Property Golden Gift as part of Sydney's growing Spring schedule, the first and second placegetters' prizemoney will ensure a spot in the Group 1 $5 million Longines Golden Slipper.
The Australian Turf Club and Racing NSW this week also announced an increase in prizemoney for the Longines Golden Slipper to $5 million – along with a further $1 million bonus around ATC pathway races – making Sydney's iconic race again the richest race in Autumn, to be run on Saturday 19 March 2022 at Rosehill Gardens.
The $1 million Inglis Rural Property Golden Gift has attracted a quality field of 12 runners and a highly competitive TAB betting market, headed by the well-backed early favourite Shalatin ($6-$4.20) for trainer Joe Pride and jockey Jay Ford.
Sejardan for former Longines Golden Slipper winning trainer Gary Portelli and ridden by Jason Collett is $4.60-$4.80 TAB, with another well-backed runner Nobel ($11-$7.50 TAB) for trainer Anabel Neasham.
Nobel will be ridden by three-time and reigning Longines Golden Slipper winning jockeyTommy Berry.
Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager Racing and Wagering James Ross said Saturday's race was a first crucial pathway for Sydney's leading stables towards the Group 1 $5 million Longines Golden Slipper.
"Saturday's field features five Sydney stables who have already won a Longines Golden Slipper including the winning trainers of the past three runnings of the race,'' Mr Ross said.
"The Inglis Rural Property Golden Gift has quickly become an integral pathway race to the ultimate prize for two-year-olds in the Sydney Autumn.''

The Group 2 $500,000 Hyland Race Colours Hot Danish Stakes is the supporting feature on the 10-race card with the John O'Shea trained and Tim Clark ridden Rocha Clock strongly backed in early TAB betting ($4.60-$3.90).
Madam Rouge ($4.60-$4.80 TAB) trained by Chris Waller and with Jason Collett aboard and stablemate Nudge ($6-$5.50 TAB) ridden by Tommy Berry are next in TAB markets.
The annual running of the Australian Turf Club's Country Classic has again attracted a capacity field and comes as more owners from across NSW are being welcomed back to Sydney tracks as COVID-19 protocols continue to ease.
Trainers from Coffs Harbour, Canberra, Wagga Wagga, Moree, Dubbo, Taree, The Oaks, Goulburn, Murwillumbah, Moruya, Scone, Muswellbrook and Nowra have nominated horses for the $130,000 race over 2000m for country trained horses.
Dream Runner ($3.70-$3.40 TAB) has been well supported for Canberra trainer Keith Dryden and jockey Robbie Dolan.
