Well bred filly by Deep Impact was a dominant winner on debut at Flemington and destined for black-type.
Ghaanati, by Deep Impact out of a Danehill mare, is a half-sister to star two-year-old Pride Of Dubai, who won the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) in 2015.
Just like her brother, Ghaanati is trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, and going off her debut win at Flemington she looks to have comparable talent as she raced away to win by 3 & ¾ lengths, eased down over the final 50m.
Stable representative Andrew Angelone suggested post-race that she's taken a while to mature but will continue to improve.
"Last prep she was still a bit green, but this prep she has taken steps and has gone on with it. She's only a petite filly. She's definitely strengthened up from last prep. It was all about giving her a good grounding," Angelone said.
For now, Ghaanati is likely to be kept to sprinting trips, however jockey Damien Oliver suggested to the stable that she'll get a mile in time.
"Ollie said after her trial the other week that she would get up to a mile, but at the moment she's suited at that 1100, 1200, 1300 metres. She's still pretty fast, so we'll let her learn and hopefully she can get up over further," Angelone said.
