Winning Trainer: Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes (Michael comments)

On extending Wild Planet out to 2000m: "I said pre-race, these older horses you've got to stretch them out when you can. And today I actually did really think he could win. He had a lightweight chance. It was only the 2000m that we didn't know about but he actually won very well."

"He jumped and travelled well. He probably got a little further back than what I would have liked but Tyler got on the back of the horse going forward and it flushed him out four-deep but he didn't panic. He just cuddled and cuddled him and he got the bikkies."

On the win: "It was a very good effort. It's a fantastic job from everyone to get this horse to 2000m. But it's another string to his bow. Last start, I'm not saying he would have won but he was nearly a good thing beaten. He got decked at the 400m mark and it just didn't really go to plan."

On the race: "But this is a lovely race to win. It's worth a lot of money and the owners have been so patient. He's hit the million-dollar mark and he's just been a great old soldier for the stable."

Winning Jockey: Tyler Schiller

On the horse: "It's terrific. Credit to the Hawkes team, they've done a really good job with the horse. He has been a bit hit and miss lately but he has bounced back up to the 2000 and never looked like stopping to me."

On the win: "He had to circle them as well, so he has done a terrific job. I think the wind is playing a big part today and I'm really grateful for the win."

On his form: "Last start was a forgive, he got flushed out and whacked on the corner. He got flushed out today but very brave, he kept digging in."

Beaten Jockeys:

Nash Rawiller (No Compromise): "Just didn't get a lot of galloping room in the straight."

Jason Collett (Sky Lab): "Didn't have a lot of luck late. Finishing the race off well."

Sam Clipperton (Stockman): "Certainly one of his better performances for a while. There is a 2300m race in a fortnight's time that will be right up his alley."

Kerrin McEvoy (Canberra Legend): "He has run a good race. Had to do a little bit of work through the first stages to get a spot. Will make his presence felt and will enjoy going 2400m and maybe even further."

Craig Williams (Shibli): "On face value we think we had the perfect run in the race. Him up into that grade, it was too much of a competitive race for that type of grade. He needs to be ridden more conservative to finish his race off."

Jay Ford (Baby Rider): "He went really good. Has improved from his first to second up run. Probably barrier one isn't ideal for him. He's a genuine stayer who wants to get out and rolling."

Zac Lloyd (Stroke Of Luck): "Horse was fantastic. He has done very well to run second. Probably when they slowed up in the middle part it didn't suit him. Was very game to the line."

Kathy O'Hara (Political Debate): "Should have got going a bit earlier. Got buffeted which didn't suit him."

Michael Dee (Shock 'Em Ova): "Super effort. He is still a big raw gangly horse. Whatever he is doing now he is still learning."
