Nervous watch: "I get nervous watching this horse trial, when he jumps out and especially on raceday. I said to Vlad, this horse can sustain a run longer than any horse I've ever trained. He certainly had to do that today. Not only was he slow away, he was off the bridle mid-race and he never travelled at all. He makes really hard work of it, but I knew once they got inside the final furlong they were never going to beat him. When he pins his ears back and has a go, he's a different beast."

"It's a big wide track and they're coming from everywhere, so if you are back in the field you can pick your way through. I was confident the track is just as good on the fence as it is outside, so full credit to Vlad for the ride. He only sat on him on Wednesday, he was a late jockey booking after Mark Zahra got suspended. He doesn't know a who;le lot about the horse, but he got the job done and has rocketed into Stradbroke calculations."

Next run: "He'll go to the Kingsford Smith in a month's time, which will tune him up nicely for the Stradbroke."

Winning Jockey: Vlad Duric

"It was a massive win by the horse. All the plans I had in my head went out the window at the start. He struggled to keep up so I decided to stick to the fence to save ground, and he was massive."

"When I switched him to the inside I had to give him a smack in the tail, but he responded and from then on I was pretty confident. It's a long straight and he was beautiful through the line, so he's in for a great prep. "
