Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Echuca, Goulburn, Ipswich, Murray Bridge and Carnarvon.

ECHUCA: RACE 7 @ 3:20 PM

PRES DE TOI (11) will take beating. Her last start effort at Murtoa in a strong race was very good, just missing the winner. She's a consistent mare who likes wet ground and gets her chance to break through. CATSKILL MOUNTAIN (5) has been freshened since a far effort over 2440m at Geelong. Back in trip but should be in the mix. LANDGRAVE (7) also drops in trip after running second over 3600m last time. He bolted in at this track and distance prior. REGAL VALOUR (13) will find this a touch easier than last start and can figure. SELECTIONS: Pres De Toi on top.

GOULBURN: RACE 7 @ 3:50 PM

I LOVE LUCY (3) ran a strong career peak leading winning on the heavy at Scone and will be better for the run. Keeps a 3kg claim and won't have to improve much to take the next step. PRINCESS SPICE (4) led and missed a lip here second-up on a deep track. The local is a winning chance at best and should be ready to find it. AMAZING NICCI (5) has been around the mark. She's in the mix with a 2x winning rider replacing the 3kg apprentice. SMUGGLER'S BAY (1) is a second-up winner and has a 4kg claim in easier class. He will ride the speed from the rail and give a sight.
SELECTIONS: Backing I Love Lucy.

IPSWICH: RACE 5 @ 2:21 PM

EMPRESS ZOU (11) was better again missing a lip at Murwillumbah bet a 9-10F. She has plenty up the sleeve and will use the rails barrier. In good hands and will take plenty of beating. ROCKIN' ARTIE (13) trialled well and was just nudged out here first-up. He keeps Loy and expect him to manage the awkward barrier. He's also got more to give and can make the finish. EXCEL IN THE SUN (7) resumes and is a stablemate to the top selection. Draws for the run of the race and the premier hoop rides. She's been away 440 days but will be a player if presented on song. ASTUTE (6) may need one but he has good ability and is worth keeping onside.
SELECTIONS: Backing Empress Zou.

MURRAY BRIDGE: RACE 2 @ 1:20 PM

I NEED A DRINK (11) will take plenty of beating here. Both of his runs to date have been good, finishing third at both. He found the line well at this track over 1800m last time and the step up in trip should suit. His upside appeals in this and he should go close. GEORGE HERCULES (4) ran a great race first up over 1400m. He steps quickly up in trip but will be better over this distance and rates as a danger. AFRIDI (8) couldn't get close on debut at Geelong over 1347m but looked in need of more ground and should improve sharply here. ARASSEM (1) struggled in a much stronger race here last time and is back in a winnable contest.
SELECTIONS: I Need A Drink to win.

CARNARVON: RACE 2 @ 2:16 PM

CAPE SOUNION (3) came off heels nicely in the straight and drove clear late to score here at the latest. Up slightly in the weights but will take benefit from latest outing. Can win again. LAYLO (7) finished midfield when resuming here over this journey. Has won second-up before and is a backmarker who gets home hard. Will prove tough to hold out. LOOKING GREAT (4) was a handy winner here two back when scoring by 2L. Failed last start but is capable of a much improved run this time. Can atone. TAMBORA (2) runs his best races fresh, with both wins coming in his first three runs back from a spell. Second-up today and rises 400m to a journey he's tasted success. Warrants respect.
SELECTIONS: Going with Cape Sounion to win.
