Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on August 6.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Ballarat Synthetic, Tamworth, Townsville, Port Augusta and Canberra Acton.
BALLARAT SYNTHETIC: RACE 4 @ 1:25 PM
ANDRESS (1) brought strong figures to resumption and ran out of puff late. Pulled up with an issue and will be better for the outing. Has the speed to find a forward spot. She can take this out getting anywhere near to her best. DAWN CHOIR (7) was okay here on debut after a slow off. Gets Yendall today and a low gate and looks up to surprising. VALENTINO'S ON (6) has had good support the last two starts and not much luck the latest. Gets Ben Allen and his best is good enough. RUGGED WOMAN (11) debuts off a handy gate for a good yard and expect the filly to have good ability and be ready to go.

TAMWORTH: RACE 2 @ 1:15 PM
AUNTIE MONNIE (4) was beaten 6.4L in Highway grade last start and was placed the three prior to that. Has never missed a placing at the distance and will be hard to beat. FAMOUS (2) was only beaten 1.6L at Coffs Harbour last time out. Draws the rails and gets 2.5kg of weight relief today. Finds a winnable race. LANCER (1) won two on the trot before finishing down the track in Highway company last start. Back to country grade today and has options from the draw. Big threat. MYSTIC SPLENDOUR (5) was much improved when beaten 1.6L at Moree last start. Draws well and all three wins have come at this track. Keep safe. OAKFIELD HIAWATHA (3) didn't handle the conditions fresh and will get a better track today. Not out of this on best form.
SELECTIONS: Keen on backing Auntie Monnie to win.
TOWNSVILLE: RACE 6 @ 3:54 PM
ASPEN LAD (12) is fast and led and won the Open 3 6-days ago. That's the best last start figure presenting and he can go on with it riding the speed. TEMPLE RUN (8) seeks the hat-trick off the win this grade and keeps getting better. He's feared. DANAWI (11) is busting to win and there was nothing in it this level the latest. Gets the run of the race and is a genuine chance. THE TENOR (3) was stright back in it winning the 70 at Toowoomba. Has more up the sleeve but the promising 3kg claimer has to manage a sticky gate.

PORT AUGUSTA: RACE 3 @ 2:20 PM
DOMINATION (1) has been super winning his past three on end here. He's right up in the weights but he makes his own luck and can run them off their feet again. THE RAVEN (3) looks suited here coming off a good win here over A Thousand Degrees and should give this a shake. BRAZILLIANT (2) has been racing well winning here three starts back before consecutive placings and draws a good barrier. AMBERTONE (9) has a good record here and wasn't beaten far when 3.4 len behind Grinzinger Star last time. ZIPADEE (8) was an easy winner here at a price last time and draws a good barrier SELECTIONS: Domination to dominate again.
CANBERRA ACTON: RACE 6 @ 3:23 PM
KHALEEJ (4) won the Maiden this track and then came back beaten 1L after a slow start. Things didn't work out at Goulburn after and he goes on top reaching peak fitness. SMUGGLER'S RUN (5) has won and placed both runs back and is an improver who will be advantaged if the track plays to the rail. Presents fitter and should go close. BRING IT BELLA (6) resumes for the Cleary yard with a 4kg claimer aboard. He's certainly good enough but needs a good ride from the sticky barrier. KEEP IT DOWN (7) is in a canny Canberra barn local barn and missed a lip at Albury two back. Winning rider Ward is reunited and keep very safe.
