3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on January 18.

Seven TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Friday at Ballina, Canterbury, Cranbourne, Canberra, Ararat, Ipswich and Esperance.

Canterbury: Race 6 @ 8:45pm

Maddison Avenue, Sazavee and Echo Princess will go about injecting good early speed. BRING THE MAGIC commenced her prep with an eye catching maiden win on the Kensington last start. Should be suited by what looks to be some solid early speed. SAZAVEE led throughout to salute over the mile at Wyong last start. McEvoy a key booking. Expected to be prominent throughout. ECHO PRINCESS was an impressive debut winner over this trip at Newcastle last start. Led throughout on that occasion. Tougher here however racing pattern certainly conducive to success around Canterbury. SURE KNEE is mixing her results however is showing good ability in the process. SELECTIONS: Race plays out well for Bring The Magic. Back accordingly.

Canberra: Race 6 @ 1:10pm

Speed aplenty with The Overdraft and Boys Day Out going quick. Race sets up for a backmarker. CROIX DE VIE is ready this afternoon. Recent efforts at Moruya in open company have been full of merit. Gotten back as he always does but the sectional times and track pattern has left him with little chance. Gets a nice class frop and his Federal wins here last season were quite dominant beating quality horses in Who's Knocking etc. Noted rider change and he'll be hard to hold out late. TE ATA is hit and miss. Couldn't get closer than 5L in a CL3 highway recently and now faces some hardened campaigners who have won 7-8 races. Few queries there but is in the right camp and races best at this track. BOYS DAY OUT deserved his latest success. Rolls them along again and should give a sight. SMILING AT SHADOWS in career best form looks best of the remainder. SELECTIONS: Leaning the way of Croix De Vie.

Ipswich: Race 4 @ 3.57pm (AEDT)

BARGANNON resumes off good form last campaign including a win at this course. That took his record here to two wins and a placing from three visits and he has won fresh before. Solid effort in a recent trial so could go close first up. DENBERN didn't have the best of luck when resuming but there was merit in the performance. Expect he can come on from that. ABSOLUTLYPOSITIVLY has been close up in both runs this time in. Respect. SELECTIONS: Backing #2 Bargannon for a first up win from #3 and #6.

Ararat: Race 8 @ 5:00pm

LADY DEE DEE was slow into stride but made an early move and kept going for an easy 3L win at Stawell last start. That was an impressive performance and she does her best work at this distance. Can win again. I AIN'T THE ONE is another that scored in easy fashion last start, saluting by 2.8L at Terang. Back 250m but there was plenty of merit in the latest performance. STABLE ME won her maiden last start. Lightly raced so has scope for further improvement. SELECTIONS: #13 Lady Dee Dee to score back-to-back wins from #12 and #5.
