Altair On Top In His Singapore Debut

3 minute read

The Mark Walker trained Altair creates plenty of interest in his Singapore when due to line up in the seventh event on Sunday night.

Formerly trained in Australia under the care of Chris Waller, the son of Zoustar won one from 11, including five minor placings.

A model of consistency, Altair rarely missed the money and left Australian shores rated 90 by Timeform.

Lining up in the Class 4 event, he does appear well placed at the weights and he has trialled very well in the lead up.

Last seen at Rosehill back in February (193 days), Altair has had the two trials in the lead up, most recently scoring by half a length in solid time (1:01.28).

Ridden by Razali Zawari, he always travelled sweetly and found the line well when taking a inside run in the straight.

While unlikely to be at his peak first up, he strikes a very winnable race, though the wide draw doesn't make it easy.

Quite tractable, suspect they will looks to ride him quiet before producing him in the straight.

The in-form Benny Woodworth takes over and with clear running in the straight, he is expected to be very hard to hold out.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he sits clear and has been given every chance by the handicapper.

The Shane Baertschiger trained Lincoln Moonlight won very well when breaking through for his maiden win last start and has to be respected.

A dominant display on-speed, he appears more than capable of taking that next step with John Powell back aboard.

Never easy making the jump from maiden company to a Class 4, however he is ticking the right boxes and looms as a major threat.

The Dan Meagher trained Watch Out Boss continued his good run of form last start when only narrowly beaten last start.

Although still a maiden, he has repeatedly put up form good enough to be winning here and gets in well after the claim - respect.

Of the rest the Tan trained Mo Almighty appears the next in line, despite failing last start.

Good luck and happy punting.
