RANDWICK: RACE 7 @ 4:15PM

Easily the main highlight of the afternoon with this year's Everest. Speed drawn wide with Nature Strip/Ten Sovereigns, expect a strong tempo. Santa Ana Lane (1) did enough first up when closing off well late behind Sunlight. Expected to elevate sharply second up and anywhere near his effort in the TJ and he is sure to take a power of beating. Inside draw a bit sticky, but trust in Zahra to get it right. Pierata (2) is back better than ever and should be right at his peak racing third up. Drawn to get first run and should make his presence felt. Arcadia Queen (11) is the big unknown, will she be sharp enough at 1200m? It remains to be seen, however no question she has the talent. Ten Sovereigns (7) is the early overs. Crazy price ($26) for a horse with his talent, not to mention the trainer/jockey combination. SELECTIONS: Siding with Santa Ana Lane saving on Pierata.

CAULFIELD: RACE 10 @ 5:50PM

Pace from 3, 6, 9, 10. Should be pressure for positions early. Pohutukawa (7) was okay fresh before improving nicely second up in the Blazer. Couldn't reel in the leader there but the pace of the race made that task a tough one. Closed strongly and ready to perform at her top now. Baccarat Baby (8) beat nice horses first up in Brisbane without having to be at her very best. Leaves her with plenty more to offer coming here second up. She's a big threat. Savatiano (6) will be fitter second up and can run well. Spanish Whisper (3) was ordinary in the Blazer but her win prior says she's good enough. Could bounce back. Invincibella (1) will be fitter and has all the right formlines to figure. Respect. SELECTIONS: Pohutukawa looks ready now.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 5 @ 2:58PM (AEST)

The scratchings have robbed the likely speed. Looks a steady tempo now. Aeecee Tong De (4) is racing very well. She has run close-up placings in her two outings since scoring a win at this course and distance. Tried hard when missing narrowly here last time and she gets the favours from the draw on the fence. Top chance. GREAT KEPPELL (2) got back and made ground when beaten less than 2L last start. Had won his previous two and her latest effort suggested she may be looking for this trip now. JOYMAKER (10) has been racing well since getting to the middle distances having been runner up in her two outings since a Sunshine Coast win. Major player. MARMARIS (3) was too strong when scoring at Ipswich last time and can be in the finish again. DAWSON DIVA (9) could improve second up. SELECTIONS: The consistent Aeecee Tong De for the win.

MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 5 @ 4:01PM (AEST)

Marina is the one to take control here. Tongsai Boss (1) was very unlucky last run. He reared at the start and charged home. Suspect he wants the mile as well and only needs a spot in the early stages. Must go close. MARINA (3) will be up out of trouble. He got run down late by an in form horse and will give you a sight for a long way. PICTURE ME ROLLING (5) chases three on the bounce. She keeps finding the line. ADATTO (2) ran well first time since the NT efforts. SELECTIONS: Looks Tongsai Boss' race.

ASCOT: RACE 8 @ 8:10PM (AEST)

A very keen early contest with Great Shot, The Velvet King and Wrinkly all pressing forward. Man Booker (2) returned from a 15-week spell with a barnstorming win over 1200m at Belmont last start in the Listed Birthday Stakes. Prolific black-type winner with strong second-up stats. Drawn perfectly and can win again. PERFECT JEWEL (5) is a big threat first up from a 41-week spell. Has won 2/3 when fresh and was tuned up with a trial win at Lark Hill recently. Pike to ride from gate two so plenty to like about her chances. THE VELVET KING (7) worked home stoutly but just missed when resuming over this course and distance seven days ago. That was his first defeat in five tries at the distance. Strips fitter and looks a big chance to win his first G3 race. LADY COSMOLOGY (12) was a couple of lengths behind Man Booker first up last start. Genuine mare with strong each-way claims from a favourable gate. SAMIZDAT (8) also comes out of the Man Booker race - needs to lift but could sneak a minor prize. SELECTIONS: #2 Man Booker - back him to win with confidence.
