Brisbane Best: Eagle Farm – 14th December 2019

A good day’s racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday with some quality fields and big prizemoney on offer.

The best bets come up early in the program, headed by the Robert Heathcote-trained Ziemba in the TAB Origin Jockey Series Benchmark 70 over 1600m.

Ziemba has placed in his two starts so far this campaign and there has been plenty to like about both efforts when beaten narrowly.

He missed by just a nose when resuming at Doomben then found the line well for a close third when stepping up to open three-year-old company.

He should appreciate getting to the mile third up and jockey Michel Rodd can secure him a cushy run in transit from the inside gate.

Ziemba is a lightly gelding with promise, having won two of three starts at his maiden campaign and he gets his chance to return to winning form.

Jeweliana is another that looks ready to strike third up when she lines up in the TAB Origin Series Class 3 over 1400m.

Steven O'Dea's filly will enjoy a drop in class after taking on much stronger races in her two runs this time in.

She hit the line strongly from well back when a 2.8L fifth when resuming over 1000m in an open race for three-year-old fillies then again finished hard after racing wide for a 1.3L fifth in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m).

She is suited stepping up to 1400m third up against class 3 company and looks to have found the right race.
