Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on January 10.

Racecourse : Gosford Picture: Gosford Race Club

Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Friday at Gosford, Port Macquarie, Cranbourne, Hamilton, Sunshine Coast & Launceston.

Gosford: Race 1 @ 3:20pm

Vulpes to inject good early speed into this contest. ACUMEN (1) resumes. Was well in commission at both runs of his maiden prep, placing on each occasion. Has been gelded over the break and won a recent trial so looks ready to get serious this time in work. Stablemate ANETHOLE (5) also returns but from a longer break. Raced just once last prep and was unplaced on a heavy track at Wyong. Trialling in great fashion - another who looks ready to fly first up. ROUCHEL (4) for the Snowdens started odds-on at his only appearance over this trip at Scone on 27 August but got too far back and could only run on into 3rd place. Blinkers on today so should be a lot sharper. Stablemate RANGES (3) won a recent trial and is likely go well first up from the inside gate. SELECTIONS: The main hopes all resume so betting moves are crucial. #1 Acumen looks the one with the most upside.

Port Macquarie: Race 6 @ 4:15pm

Genghis Khan will cross and lead from Mister Hootabell at a solid clip. GENGHIS KHAN (1) led into the straight and gave a great sight only to find a couple better close to home over 2200m at Scone last start. That was a steep rise in distance so the run was full of merit. Fitter for three runs in and this looks the perfect trip. TORRENS (2) kept his 100% record intact when a narrow winner first up over 1530m at Muswellbrook. Promising stayer who will enjoy a bit more ground today. LUCITOR (4) boxed on well and was beaten just 0.7 lengths when second up over 1750m at Muswellbrook last Friday. Finds an easier race today and with added fitness looms as a genuine threat. CONDOVER HALL (3) is in form and likes this track so don't leave him out. SELECTIONS: Very keen on #1 Genghis Khan.

Sunshine Coast: Race 3 @ 7:45pm (AEDT)

A few of these like to roll forward. MISHANI SPIRIT (3) created an impression in her first campaign. She won two from three and looked superb, winning both by a combined margin of 6.3L. Tackled a G3 at Doomben after that and was burnt early from the wide draw. Had over a year off. If she's anywhere near right she should blow these away. GOLLY HUTT (5) trialled well here in readiness. Competitive in town at the back end of last preparation. Well bred. Will have admirers. CHILL THE BEER (2) resumes. Mixed his form when last in work. Stable on fire and he's right in this at best. Drawn for a lovely run. EMBATTLED (4) best of the rest. SELECTIONS: Mishani Spirit gets the nod.

Cranbourne: Race 6 @ 9:00pm

MRS SIPPY (6) has the form on the board. Scored a win at this course before chasing well to place at Moonee Valley. Well drawn and is a definite winning chance. CRIMINOLOGIST (8) wasn't far away last start following a Kyneton win. Racing in good form and must be considered a danger. The first up run of BULLOCK (5) was better than it appears on paper as she wasn't too far away in the city. Improver. REFLECT THE STARS (7) is worth keeping safe fresh. SELECTIONS: #6 Mrs Sippy has the form to win.
