Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on January 23.
Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Tamworth, Pakenham, Wangaratta, Doomben & Pinjarra.
Pakenham: Race 8 @ 9:30pm
Falls and Baracus will be prominent from the jump. FALLS (3) resumes and is promising. Missed a nose in stronger grade before the spell and goes well fresh. He’s likely to come back improved and is the one to beat. BARACUS (15) won the Maiden by a space heavily back and gets the same track conditions. A big chance to go on. CHICAGO O'BRIEN (8) draws out but was also a big Maiden winner racing second up and can build on that at a good quote. INKSLINGER (4) has been racing well and the shorter trip and wet track brings him into it. SELECTIONS: #3 Falls with relish the wet track and gets the nod.

Wangaratta: Race 6 @ 4:00pm
Just A Yoke may lead. JUDGE JEANINE (5) won a good Maiden before being beaten a lip this level. She should get a nice run from the rail and is a strong winning chance. NITTY GRITTY (7) draws out, but keeps improving and is a genuine hope. CONSTANT FLOW (3) gets a 3kg claim and is going well enough to make the finish at good odds. JUST A JOKE (1) is one to keep safe resuming. SELECTIONS: #5 Judge Jeanine rates well off the latest efforts.
Doomben: Race 6 @ 5.50pm (AEDT)
CABOCHON LIL (9) got off the mark with maiden success at Sunshine Coast and jockey Ryan Maloney sticks. Expect the step up to the mile to suit and should be at her peak. Can go on with it. SAYL (2) broke through for a maiden win at Wyong last start and switches to Waller's Queensland team. Can measure up. RAISE AN ARMY (5) has improved with each run this time in and was placed last start. Ready to peak now. NORTHERN DRAGON (10) is racing consistently with a string of top four finishes. Has appeal. SELECTIONS: #9 Cabochon Lil to go back to back.
