The Supremacy Stakes for the short coursers is the main race on Saturday but we fancy others away from that.

Ascot Picture: Racing and Sports

Our best is a good quality 3yo who ran some very good races during the Summer carnival in the shape of Laverrod.

He was second in the Placid Ark then third in the Lee-Steere before winning a 3yo then going for a short spell.

Those placings were behind good horses who've gone on with it.

He's won a trial to be ready now and can just plonk himself near the speed from a lovely gate.

Without many other winning chances, the even money seems a good price to take.

Then in the following race another 3yo runs off a good carnival.

Red Can Man won the Fairetha Stakes then was placed in a WA Guineas which turned into good form as well.

He too is first up but well drawn and will sit right near the pace all the way.

Would love them to run along and see his class come to the fore but he is adaptable.

Suspect he may get out to black odds.
