Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 3rd June 2020

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on June 3.

Brandenburg (centre) finishes third in the Gr.1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Royal Randwick Picture: Bradleyphotos.com.au

Seven TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Kensington, Sandown, Doomben, Emerald, Belmont, Gawler & Canberra.

Randwick-Kensington: Race 6 @ 3:45pm

Maggie Miss is quick out of the blocks and should lead from Proletariat and Mantelli. The consistent BIG BAD BRUCE (9) hooked deep and closed with great purpose but just ran out of ground when 3rd over the mile at Warwick Farm last start, with a good gap to the 4th horse. Enjoys the perfect run out of gate three and will relish the hot tempo on offer. PROLETARIAT (2) is a talented Kiwi import first up from a five-month spell and having his first run under Joe Pride's care. Goes well when fresh so although his best form comes over more ground he could be a surprise packet. The promising MANTELLI (12) for Waller returns from an 18-week break. Only raced three times in the maiden prep, all in Queensland, with a close 2nd to recent dual Stakes winner Vanna Girl on debut the highlight. Ready to run well following two recent trials. On-pacer MAGGIE MISS (8) has filled minor placings at all three runs this prep, most recently over this course and distance. Hard to leave out but not sure she deserves favouritism.  SELECTIONS: #9 Big Bad Bruce is a very sound each-way bet.

Canberra: Race 1 @ 12:30pm

Nobody's Puppet, Revolver and Prince Jacko are likely to push forward and make the speed. REVOLVER (4) peaks off three placings and only missed 1L here 12 days ago behind Prince Jacko. Expect him to be on the speed quicker today from the low gate and winning rider McDougall is reunited. He's the one to beat. PRINCE JACKO (2) worked to the lead off a month freshen and surprised the market winning for the form yard. Keeps the 4kg claim and he's a chance to win again if he holds that level of performance. FARTHING WOOD (7) was slow to begin in the same race and worked home okay beaten 2.4L. He is much better than that, but needs a speed on. BALLISTA (1) has placed both runs back, the latest at Warwick Farm in better grade. She also gets back, but the 3kg claim brings her right into it. NOBODY'S PUPPET (9) races well here and has been knocking on the door. The Olive yard is always respected. SELECTIONS: Looking to build the bank early with #Revolver to win. An excellent betting card at Canberra today.

Sandown: Race 6 @ 3:20pm

Vivid Art can roll over and lead and a number won't be far away. QUANTUM MECHANIC (4) is a Group performer who just missed resuming and then placed at Listed grade in Adelaide — and three winners have come out of that. She peaks and Oliver will give her a soft run from the rail. Has more to give and looks tough to beat. CHARLEISE (1) will also be at her best today and that's good enough. Missed a lip the latest in the Flemington 78 and will go close with a good Zahra ride from the wide gate. GRAND DE FLORA (2) is a former Kiwi who couldn't have been more impressive winning the 58 first up by 6L for the O'Brien yard. Posted her best figure at Listed level in NZ and will go close managing the tricky gate. ORIENTAL LILY (3) also draws out, but is better than the form line suggests and three back was only beaten 2.3L in the Listed Laelia Stakes. SELECTIONS: Sandown provides a terrific betting program. Settled on the improving #4 Quantum Mechanic in Race 6 on an each way basis.
