Say From SA: Morphettville – 27th June 2020

3 minute read

Just a so so meeting on the Parks track this Saturday.

Morphettville

With the likelihood of a soft track and not a heavy one, suggesting Celtic Blast can win again first up.

This gelding has run four excellent races in those conditions including three wins and first up last prep he won on a Soft 5 over 1000m on the Parks track – does that sound familiar.

His Victorian runs after that were not poor but there were no victories in those.

From a lovely alley he can ride the speed as he likes to do and with a few other recent winners in the race, we might even get better odds on the day.

This might seem a weird one but in a race devoid of a lot of class why can't the jumper Andrea Mantegna compete well now he's getting to a more suitable trip.

Since a spell he ran a cracking race at Caulfield over the mile closing to within two lengths and then a fortnight later had no hope against the mile on a leaderish track so must wipe that one from the memory.

The added 650m, the easiest standard of opponent and a nice draw means he can probably sit that bit closer.

He also carries a weight only equal of that from Melbourne. He screams an each way play being fitter and loving that bit more give in the surface too.
