Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on July 29.

Kenedna winning the Hardy Bro Jeweller Doomben Cup Picture: Racing and Sports

Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Warwick Farm, Bendigo, Doomben, Belmont & Balaklava.

Doomben: Race 9 @ 4:40pm

Wapiti to run them along at a good clip. LOVE EXPRESS (8) settled just behind the lead division and tried hard but found Wapiti a shade too strong in the Sunshine Coast Winx Guineas over 1600m last time. Might have a bit more improvement to come than the winner as he was only third up that day. With a massive 5.5 kgs weight turnaround on the last meeting he is set to reverse the result. WAPITI (2) took over before the turn and kept going strongly to take out the Winx Guineas last start. The handicapper has had a decent crack at him today but he has the class to overcome. REUS (5) continued his outstanding run of recent form with a win in the rich Grafton Guineas over the mile last start. Yet to miss a cheque in eight race starts so offers great appeal on an each-way basis. GREEN JACKET (7) is racing through the grades impressively, winning three of his last four. Big test today but shouldn't be underestimated. SELECTIONS: #8 Love Express is perfectly placed to topple the short-priced favourite.

Bendigo: Race 2 @ 1:00pm

The large field will run along but no designated leader. ZEPPA (12) is in good hands and impressed on debut in the Open 2 at Flemington. He resumes after 228 days and has been gelded. John Allen rides from a low gate and expect him to take beating. ROYAL GUN SALUTE (9) placed on debut and then improved sharply beaten a nose in The Valley Maiden. That stacks right up and he'll get a soft run from the low gate. THE CATCH (10) resumed here off a Group 3 and put in a solid effort. The longer trip suits him and his best would have him in the photo. The wide gate disadvantages and requires a Kah special. PERFECT WORLD (14) wasn't far away in town on resumption and is in the mix. SELECTIONS: Backing # 12 Zeppa to win if the late market says he's on song.

Warwick Farm: Race 5 @ 3:10pm

Race loses early speed with the scratching of Syncline. DEEPFIELD'S RAINE (11) is of some interest. Placed behind Syncline at Hawkesbury last start and with Syncline scratched may now be the one to frank the form out of that event. ROYAL BANQUET (5) comes here looking to remain unbeaten from three runs this prep. Showing good promise. BERGEN (1) drops in grade to the easiest assignment he has contested this prep. Wasn't beaten far behind Ballet Master two back. Holds each way appeal in a race lacking depth. SELECTIONS: Deepfield's Raine a genuine value bet.

Balaklava: Race 8 @ 4:45pm

Saucy Jack and Exalted Traveller can make the speed off low gates and Waikato Express won't be far away. WOULDA THOUGHT SO (10) came from the back to win the 58 here easily and then was slow off again just beaten the same level at The Parks. He gets Holder today and a low gate finally and can bounce with the weight relief in this grade. Vorster gets off the above to stick with the McEvoy yard and ANDAZ (4) who will be better for the first up run after switching from the Waller yard. He gets the blinkers again and quick improvement is on the cards. MABEL JOSEPHINE (6) is busting to win and got close at Gawler 3 days ago as favourite. She won't be far away again. NO JOY (9) gets the weight drop and will be better at her second run for the new yard. SELECTIONS: There’s a number of McEvoy shorties on the program who should be winning. Going around the yard in Race 8 looking for a bit of value. #10 Woulda Thought So needs the long run-in that this track offers and will support on an each way basis.
