The Sydney Kings and Hawks are in Albury waiting to hear where they will be relocated to while the NBL reworks round one due to border restrictions.
The Sydney Kings and Hawks have their bags packed as they await their next move, with the NBL scrambling to rework round one which is set to get underway on January 10.
The teams are in the NSW border town of Albury - both shifting there on Boxing Day after the COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney.
They are staying at the same hotel and sharing training facilities.
But a spate of cases in Melbourne in the last 48 hours has meant their next destination is up in the air.
The South East Melbourne Phoenix and the New Zealand Breakers were relocated from Victoria to Hobart on Friday.
The Victorian border will close to NSW from Friday midnight, however, there is a border bubble for towns such as Albury.
The NBL said they were working to move the Kings and Hawks but it may not happen on Friday.
They are also looking at round one which is being impacted by border restrictions.
The Kings are due to play the Perth Wildcats in a grand final rematch in Perth on January 15.
But with WA shutting its borders to both NSW and Victoria that round-one game is almost certain to be rescheduled, along with a host of others.
Kings coach Adam Forde said they were ready to go if required.
"The NBL are going through the process of looking to relocate us but we came here with the expectation we would be here for two weeks, until January 9," Forde told AAP.
"We don't have an update yet; we know South East Melbourne and New Zealand have relocated to Hobart and we may be in a similar situation but we don't know yet.
"We're just holding steady here until we find out the next play.
"Since the 20th we've had a bag packed ready to go."
Forde, who was elevated from assistant to head coach in December when Will Weaver picked up an NBA assistant role with Houston Rockets, said his team had adapted a flexible approach.
"We're preparing to potentially play Perth or anybody else," he said.
"We just have to get ourselves ready and then we'll go after it but at the moment we're just holding the fort in Albury and taking it day to day."
