Breakers centre Dan Trist will miss two games against Adelaide and one against the Wildcats after inadvertently breaching the NBL's COVID protocols.
Fringe New Zealand Breakers centre Dan Trist will need to be isolated from the team for 14 days after inadvertently breaching the NBL's COVID-19 protocols.
A family member of Trist's was given permission by the team to visit him in Adelaide.
The club approved the visit without first seeking the consent of the NBL, which is in breach of the league's COVID-19 protocols.
As a consequence of that visit, Trist is regarded by the Western Australian Government as having been in close contact with a person who has been in a restricted zone (Victoria) in the past 14 days.
It means Trist is unable to enter WA for the Breakers' game against the Perth Wildcats in round three on January 31.
He was immediately isolated from the rest of the team to ensure that the Breakers remain eligible to enter WA without need to quarantine.
It means Trist is unavailable for the January 22 game against the 36ers in Adelaide, as well as Wednesday's re-match and the trip to Perth.
"The Breakers have cooperated with the League to ensure that the impact of this oversight on the competition is mitigated," NBL commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said.
"It is critical that we safeguard the schedule and the competition and all parties concerned have taken immediate steps to ensure that has occurred."
