Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for major Australian thoroughbred meetings on February 14.
NOWRA: RACE 2 @ 1:35 PMDIORISSIMA (11) has had nine starts for five placings and has been knocking on the door of late. Has placed two from two over the mile and jockey was on board for the close-up second last start. Looks the one to beat. MORE EXCITEMENT (13) will take plenty of benefit from her first-up fifth where she made up a bunch of ground late. From a good barn and drawn well for Dolan. Looks the main danger. GOLDEN CHANCES (12) was a good second two starts back and can go on with it. SIAKAM (6) comes into this third-up and the step up to the mile looks ideal. GREY MANTRA (7) comes out of a good form race at Newcastle last time out and will be fitter third-up. SELECTIONS: Diorissima to win.

ALBANY: RACE 1 @ 2:16 PMDANCING JACK (1) looks like a good way to start the day. Has that 'ping' about him and the race looks really suitable. Parnham a plus. Could be made to earn it by SPIRIT OF PROPHECY (3) though. Consistent and a win can't be far away. ICARIAN (4) comes back from city racing but still looks to have bumped into a couple of smarter ones. Place chance at least. REBEL MAN (2) appeals on the run last start here. Just missed the placings and can go in first fours. I FORGOT (5) had excuses but is a similar case for exotics. SELECTIONS: Dancing Jack the win.
COLAC: RACE 3 @ 2:40 PMANICETA (3) was placed in town first up behind All Stardom who wasn't disgraced at Group 3 level at his next start. She was no match for the impressive Oxley Road on the Heavy last start and looks well placed to break through in this race racing handy to the speed from a good draw. SUN PERLE (11) came from the back of the field last start to place behind the runaway winner Tuvalu who looks above average and has since won again in town. She can go close here. LUMINARA (7) just missed last start and will strip fitter here third up off a long break. Don't take lightly. RATHER SPECIAL (8) ran an even race on debut as favourite and will take plenty of benefit from the experience. Keep safe. LIBBYANGEL (5) is an outside place hope here second up from a spell. SELECTIONS: Aniceta can break through and is the best bet for the day.
MOE: RACE 3 @ 2:55 PMCARMELITES (1) has placed at two of her past three starts including two starts ago behind Fintona Queen who has since won again. She shouldn't have any issue dropping back in distance and will make her own luck on speed from an inside draw in what looks a low pressure race. She's well in after the claim and can go close. SILVERDEEL (9) can bounce back here from a disappointing run last start when second up. She'll strip fitter here and should get the favours from an inside draw. SURE STRATEGY (11) never came into the race last start and gets the Blinkers off. Looks for improvement here. ZOUMATIC (12) has a wide draw to contend with but has to be respected second up with natural improvement. TORNADO FLAME (4) improved sharply last start and is one for the exotics. SELECTIONS: Carmelites has plenty in her favour and is the best for the day.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 4 @ 2:37 PMFIORENA (5) finally found her form with a solid win at Ipswich last time out. Should appreciate the rise in trip this time and expected to give this a shake. SOUTHERN SWING (2) backed up a sound first-up run here with good win at Grafton. Rises in trip this time but looks up to the task. Must be respected. THE MINIVAN (4) has been around the money in recent assignments and can again make presence felt. BOREAS (6) was heavily tried to win over a shorter trip at Gatton last time and is worth including in the chances here. SELECTIONS: Back Fiorena.
