Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Geelong, Nowra, Scone and Mackay.

GEELONG: RACE 6 @ 3:30 PM

DERIVE (11) ran seventh last start at Caulfield over 1400m when beaten 3.5 lengths. Much easier here and just missed this class two back. Looks the one to beat. BOSS'N THE MOSS (7) lifted strongly when winning by a head two runs back at Pakenham and has a good draw today. Much better than last run and expected to bounce back. MAID OF IRON (12) finished among the placings last time when third at Sandown-Hillside and should be further improved. Ready to win and looks a top winning hope. LOOK SHARPISH (3) usually races well second-up so can improve on her tenth when resuming at Sandown-Hillside.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Derive.

NOWRA: RACE 2 @ 1:40 PM

SHADOW CHASER (1) drops back to country level today and gets McDougall aboard. Had excuses last start and still managed to run third only beaten two lengths. Has never missed a placing at this distance. Main contender. TIMPERLEY (6) was beaten seven lengths at Canberra last start but gets back onto a good track today. Loves this distance having placed six times from 10 starts. Expect a big improvement. MISSILE MAGIC (3) has been consistent without winning. Jeff Penza hops on board and 1200m looks right for him. Big chance. BEAUCHAMP (2) has been racing well in tougher company of late. Will be able to hold a good spot from the low draw. Won't be far away if he runs up to recent performances. POCKET MISSILE (5) missed the start badly at her last outing but was great when she won first-up. Can cause an upset.
SELECTIONS: Shadow Chaser to put his second win on the board.

SCONE: RACE 6 @ 4:25 PM

FALSE STEP (6) resumes off three trials and showed plenty heavily-bet the initial preparation. In a strong barn and the hot jock Bullock sticking is a plus. She will have come on and should take beating. DR COPPER (5) has had one blip in a string of close-up efforts. He will push forward and gets another chance. CHAPELIS (1) worked home strongly on resumption in the 66 and then found the 68 at Newcastle too tough. He comes back in class for this and will be fitter. Keep very safe. THE OUTCAST (3) comes back in grade and can make the first-four.
SELECTIONS: Backing False Step to win.

MACKAY: RACE 6 @ 4:34 PM

OVERSEAS (4) has won and placed the last two at Townsville and they stack right up. He's been freshened and the speedy galloper will be tough to beat back to the shorter sprint. THE EGYPTIAN (5) is ready to win off the two placed run with the latest in better grade at Rockhampton. Draws well and will go close with the hot hoop riding first time. BOLD THALIA (9) won the CL3 at Townsville first-up and is much improved. Fitter she's also a player. HURRICANE FIGHTER (3) just missed first-up behind the above improved but needs some luck from the sticky gate.
SELECTIONS: Going with Overseas.
