Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Ascot, Doomben, Flemington and Morphettville  .

ROSEHILL: RACE 5 @ 1:50 PM

PRIME STAR (1) is only 2/12 but has placed on a further seven occasions in races much stronger than this. Gets in very well under the set-weights conditions and looks to get a lovely run just off the speed. Won a trial in readiness for this and is clearly the one to beat. EXOBOOM (2) did a good job to win the Hawkesbury Guineas last start and is clearly a horse on the way up. Wide draw makes it tricky, but he shapes as the main danger. MIDLAND (3) is 2/2 this time in and while this is a big step up it's hard to knock winning form. NICCI'S FLING (12) wasn't beaten far in the JHB Carr Stakes last start and has to be included off that run.
SELECTIONS: Very keen on Prime Star.

ASCOT: RACE 8 @ 4:25 PM

FLIRTINI (15) gave away a big start when resuming at Northam but attacked the line hard and will relish the extra 100m. Blinkers go on too and any speed on is to her advantage. ELITE STREET (3) is a Group 1 winner who failed in three runs in Melbourne in the autumn. Back home and if in order will be in the finish. CUP NIGHT (6) produced his best form to win at Northam fresh and only has to hold it to be competitive again. DANCE MUSIC (14) and ROCK MAGIC (1) can't be left out.
SELECTIONS: Flirtini to win. Trifecta 15-1,3,6,14/1,3,6,14.

DOOMBEN: RACE 9 @ 4:38 PM

AXE (11) run into handy one when runner up at this course and distance last start and had won three of his previous four. In form and has good wet form. Strong claims. CRISTAL BREEZE (3) impressed when she got back but finished too well to win the Provincial Championships Final over 1400m at Randwick last start. McDonald goes back on and hasn't missed a place on her. Major player. DR WHY NOT (12) is going great guns with four wins and a second from five starts this campaign. Led and dug deep to score at Eagle Farm over 1400m as the favourite last time. Can give a sight again. SUPERIUM (10) who looks close to a win having placed at his two Melbourne runs since a spell. STARVIRGO (5) ran on to win fresh and has to be respected.
SELECTIONS: Axe to return to the winners' stall.

FLEMINGTON: RACE 4 @ 1:30 PM

Key runner comes across the Tasman. HYPNOS (4) ran really well in a Riccarton Group Three last time and that form stands out against these. Appears really well handicapped based on that and he is still completely untapped at this trip with that having been his first try over 2000m. Think he can win it. BRIMHAM ROCKS (1) and ANOTHER DOLLAR (2) are each third up for this. The former ran a bad one last time but it can be easily forgiven while the latter was about as good as ever in the same race.
SELECTIONS: Backing Hypnos.

MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 5 @ 1:51 PM

This is a SA Fillies Classic with plenty of new blood. FLEXIBLE (3) though is the one coming from the Australasian Oaks with a cracking effort. She was well back on the corner and got within a length. Her form is excellent and only has to stay the trip. CHEQUERBOARD (2) takes a different path via an open race. She is well primed for this journey. MIMI'S AWARD (4) trotted in but in weaker grade at Wangaratta. They can improve sharply though this time of year. LLANACORD (1) had good kiwi form but was too far back a fortnight ago. Does want this distance. MI ROCK ALY (5) is ever consistent but drawn a bad barrier.
SELECTIONS: Keen to back Flexible.
