Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Randwick-Kensington, Eagle Farm, Sandown, Belmont Park, Bordertown and Grafton.

RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 2 @ 1:25 PM

KING OF SPARTA (4) resumes here and had been finishing just behind the placegetters in Group races last campaign. Tuned up for this with two handy Randwick trial wins and draws to get a cosy run from gate five. Clearly the one they all have to run down. MILITARY EXPERT (6) wasn't an inexpensive yearling and showed promise when an easy Wyong trial winner by over two lengths. From an astute stable and can be right in the finish on debut. LUCKY SUN (5) has been thereabouts in all three career starts including a close-up fourth over this track and trip last time out. In the mix from the inside barrier. SWORD POINT (9) is well bred and can feature first time at the races.
SELECTIONS: King Of Sparta to win.

SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 7 @ 3:55 PM

EXCELIDA (2) placed resuming at Flemington in the 84 and had no luck that grade at Caulfield after. Was close-up in a Group 3 at the back of the last campaign and has plenty to give. Gets a sticky gate but Oliver can manage that. TERAMIA (10) has been threatening at 64 level and has heavily-bet the latest. Gets a leading rider and can make the finish again with average luck. OUR BIRDSONG (4) will be better third-up and races handy. In the mix getting the handy 2kg claim. PART TIME LOVER (8) needed the run here first-up this grade and has plenty to give. Gets a low barrier and Kah is a key booking. Expect sharp improvement.
SELECTIONS: Backing Excelida to win.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 4 @ 2:24 PM

SMASHING (5) has shown itself to be a good first-up performer and won't mind a rain affected surface. Scored at Ascot first-up last prep and this should be a lot harder. GUNMETAL GREY (2) won on debut in November and returns to the track today. A consistent performer throughout its short career so far and gets a tick as the main danger. CABLE BOY (3) covered extra ground when placing at the end of last prep at Ascot. Has a good record overall and the blinkers are going on so don't discount. AGENT KENSINGTON (8) placed first-up at Pinjarra last prep. Might find a few stronger here but has trifecta prospects. GIANCANA (7) had excuses for the last start failure at Ascot. Can go better but might need the outing. Another for exotics.
SELECTIONS: Smashing the win and quinella it with Gunmetal Grey.

BORDERTOWN: RACE 6 @ 3:05 PM

BEAR ARMS (6) was super impressive returning to winning form with a 5.5 len win over Clever Man at Naracoorte. He loves this trip and is going to take a power of beating again. CAMPOBASSO (4) was well backed behind Jaamint last time up in class, this looks a more suitable race and he has a good record on a soft surface. EUROGEM (9) was good winning at Gawler two runs back before a good run behind Le Dupe at Balaklava last week. SHOTS (7) could be an improver in a race like this, he was first-up for almost a year hen 7th behind Celtic Valour at Murray Bridge last time. HUMPBACK (10) is another who will appreciate getting out to the 2000m trip.
SELECTIONS: Bear Arms to win again.

GRAFTON: RACE 8 @ 4:34 PM

PALASZCZUK (8) is fast and ready to win off the 1L defeat at the Gold Coast in stronger. Draws to advantage and the winkers replace the blinkers. The Costa yard is red-hot. VOLFONI (9) got back and impressed first-up winning the CL1 this track. Gets a wide gate but won't have to improve much to be a serious player. CONDOVER HALL (2) raced favourite and deserved the win this grade at Taree. He can make the finish again. SAILING (13) has been knocking on the door and will get every chance with Thompson riding from the handy gate.
SELECTIONS: Backing Palaszczuk.
