Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 16.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Geelong, Taree and Mackay.
GEELONG: RACE 4 @ 2:00 PM
MR BRIGHTSIDE (5) is a former Kiwi who missed a lip resuming as favourite. That stacks right up and a top hoop rides. Should be winning fitter and with average luck. KISS ME IF YOU CAN (3) is a leader ready to win off the two placed efforts. The claim is handy and he looks the quinella. MARQUESS (10) raced favourite on debut but looked in need of it. Gets the blinkers first-time and Oliver sticks. Sharp improvement is likely. A gap then to VANCOUVER VELVET (6) who resumes with he blinkers on first time bringing solid trials. SELECTIONS: Keen on Mr Brightside.

PLEADING (8) had trialled well and first-up was much to good for the Maidens. That stacks right up and fitter she can take the next step drawn to advantage. SUPERIOR WITNESS (4) is speedy and resumed with an easy 58 win. He's improved and a form rider takes over. TUPOU (5) has won and placed the last two and draws for a soft run. He has claims. COOL MISSILE (1) is also quick and need the first-up outing in a bit stronger. Has won second-up and her best would have her in the finish.
SELECTIONS: Backing Pleading.
MACKAY: RACE 7 @ 4:20 PM
STUBAI (5) won easily at the mile as favourite and then ran along again beaten 1L at Rockhampton at this level. Can bounce back pushing forward and rising to a pet trip. MONSIEUR MACRON (10) ran a peak winning at Townsville over 1400m as favourite. That reads well but he is on trial this trip. A decent chance if he runs it right out. PLANET WARRIOR (4) is also a last start Open winner and is well in the mix. CINNAMON MISSILE (8) was tracking well before the latest and can't be ruled out.
