Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Port Macquarie, Wangartta and Emerald.
PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 5 @ 3:40 PM
GREEN PROTECTOR (1) broke through for his maiden win in comprehensive fashion when saluting by just under 3 lengths at Murwillumbah. Drawn the pole and now knows how to win. Hard to hold out. BLADNOCH (4) also shed the Maiden tag last start when winning by 2.3 lengths here over the track and trip. Can make it two on the bounce. WHELK (2) was disappointing when returning from a four month spell, beaten 5 lengths. Strips fitter second-up and expected to improve sharply. Don't underestimate. WANDZEL (3) was beaten a stretch when resuming from a lengthy lay off. Has a decent record second up. Open to improvement.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Green Protector to go back-to-back.

EMERALD: RACE 6 @ 4:40 PM
TOM'S STAR (2) seeks the hat-trick and delivered the the latest by 3L at Mackay in stronger. Draws to advantage and the 3kg claim helps with some of the weight lift. He's won here and can go on with it. PURE RUBICK (3) is on a 4-day return and go on the 1.6L defeat two-back at Mackay in the 55. Should get a soft run from the low barrier and make the finish. CLIFF'S CHOICE (1) hasn't been far away the two runs for the new yard. Comes back a few levels and deserves consideration despite the sticky barrier. CASSAVANCE (10) has been winning in easier company and the on-pacer can fill a minor slot.
