Brisbane Best: Doomben – 11th August 2021

3 minute read

Fresh winner Ballistic Boy ticks plenty of boxes at his second outing from a lengthy break in the Doomben Mile on Saturday.

The gelding impressed at his first run back after eight months on the sidelines when running on for a last-stride win here over 1350m.

Ballistic Boy should only be improved by that outing and with 50 per cent strike rates both at this longer distance and when second up he looks hard to hold out again.

Second-up specialist You Make Me Smile takes on a couple of handy rivals but put the writing on the wall fresh.

He closed well for third when he resumed over 1000m at Eagle Farm, beaten 1.7 lengths.

The gelding has an excellent record second-up, winning four of six attempts and gets the favours from the rails draw.
