Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Tamworth, Ballarat and Cairns.

TAMWORTH: RACE 3 @ 1:35 PM

SECOND HALF (4) is unlucky to still be a maiden with two consecutive runner-up finishes and strikes a very winnable contest here. Palmer has placed three from three when in the irons and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Rates the testing material. DOBBIN (2) strips fitter second-up and will get a cushy run from the low draw. In the mix. TOPENDER (12) has been thereabouts in all five runs this campaign and is a must for the multiples. AUSSIE LINDBERGH (1) has been plying his trade at provincial level and will find this easier. Can earn a cheque.
SELECTIONS: Second Half to win.

BALLARAT SYNTHETIC: RACE 1 @ 1:00 PM

BELLA SORELLINA (6) had her first run for 29 weeks last start and after leading into the straight was swamped late and finished a close fourth over this distance at Mornington. Kept fresh since that run six weeks ago. Beautifully drawn and with added fitness she will be very tough to reel in. MOON YANCO (8) has been very competitive in both runs this prep, the latest effort a closing second over today's journey at Mornington. Cherry-ripe and won't be a maiden for long. SPANISH STROLL (12) raced three wide on debut last start then loomed to win but the early effort told and he faded to third at the end of 1100m at Werribee. With a bit more luck in running he is a major player. STARSELLA (10) led with blinkers on for the first time last start and just failed to hang on at Mildura over this trip. More depth to this race but she cannot be ruled out. WILD KOMODO (5) is an unraced half-brother to the smart Harmony Rose. Blinkers go straight on; respect any market push.
SELECTIONS: #6 Bella Sorellina to open her account.

CAIRNS: RACE 7 @ 3:10 PM

PRIME RULER (5) won four on the trot at the back of the previous campaign. Led and was just knocked off by Family Star first-up well clear of the rest. Fitter now and keeps the in-form Wiggins and has weight relief and a kind draw. Has more up the sleeve and appeals. CUPID'S SON (4) seeks the hat-trick and keeps the 4kg claim. He will run along from the rail and is a quinella chance. FUDGING (9) is third-up and rates well. Has plenty of weight relief and fitter can't be ruled out at a price. LOVE EXPRESS (1) brings strong form to resumption and is up to this at best. Morrison is flying and replaced the apprentice. May need one but is worth keeping safe.
SELECTIONS: Backing Prime Ruler to win.
