Early mail and best exotic plays for Randwick on February 8 from racing editor Chris Scholtz..

Target In Sight Picture: Racing and Sports

RANDWICK SATURDAY

RACE 4 (8) TARGET IN SIGHT: Added to an excellent career strike rate when he won his first two starts off a spell at Gosford and Randwick before heading to the Gold Coast for a crack at the strong Class 6 feature on the Magic Millions program last month. He was stiff not to win after being trapped wide all the way and will be hard to beat with the return to his home course over a trip where he has never missed a place in seven starts. Goes best when fresh so the 28-day break works well for him. Only needs a touch of luck early from an awkward gate.

RACE 6 (7) SPEEDINESS: Smart move to see him come to Sydney first-up off a smart Sandown trial placing as he has produced excellent form racing right-handed in the past. Has won three times first-up including the strong G3 Bobbie Lewis last spring and WFA doesn’t look beyond him based on his G1 form that form includes his close third to Boban in the Emirates Stakes in November. Placed in five of his seven starts at 1200m and could prove hard to hold out sitting off likely fast pace.

RACE 8 (10) PILLOW TALK: Very honest mare who has been within a length of the winner in all her four starts since resuming from a long spell including her second up win at Canterbury beating subsequent winner Agon. She has since hit the line hard in two 1400m runs at Randwick and could have won both with better luck. She’s well placed in this company carrying 1kg under the limit with the benefit of a claim for Sam Clipperton and can finish over the top of this field if ridden quietly and saved for the late run at them.
