Say From SA: Morphettville – 4th May 2019

Group 1 racing returns to Morphettville this weekend with the girls the main focus of attention.

Jamaican Rain Picture: Racing and Sports

Happy to be playing at odds in the two big races this Saturday.

Firstly to the Australasian Oaks where Sure Knee must go close off her Caulfield run.

She only won by a head on the Kensington track and then came to Melbourne when she rattled from near last to miss by a nose.

Now the horse who beat her Princess Jenni is half of her odds and while she has to be a huge chance, we get near double figures to find out.

John Allen rides these middle distance types well and while she will be back in this field, he may just ride for luck while others have to be ridden with the percentages in mind.

The Sangster Stakes then follows and reckon there are two huge value runners in the form of Ellicazoom and Jamaican Rain.

The first mare was fantastic in the Oakleigh Plate and William Reid and then was literally run off her feet in the Sapphire Stakes. Just forget that race.

She just needs some luck but will be smothered away and will run on hard probably near the inside. We are getting massive odds for a small play.

But should the weather and track be as predicted, Jamaican Rain is a great chance.

She was heavily backed into favourite in the Coolmore Classic but not much went her way and was found to be lame. You can’t be that in races at the highest level.

Before that her form on damper surfaces were just outstanding. She’s had a freshen up and a trial since then and can just see Craig Williams sitting behind the speed and getting a break on some of the backmarkers.
