3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on May 22.

Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Canterbury, Ballarat, Gold Coast, Pinjarra & Gawler.

Canterbury Race 4 @ 2:35pm

Pandemonium to take up the running at an even tempo. AUSTRIA (9) was most impressive last start at her second run back from a spell, making up many lengths to finish a close 3rd over the mile at Scone. Former Kiwi who is settling in well under Waller and looks ready to break through in Australia. THE CLOSER (3) was eased out of the race and found the be suffering an irregular heart rate at Warrnambool last time. Finished 4th beaten 2.4 lengths in the G2 Kewney over 1400m at Flemington three runs back - is a winning prospect on that form. PANDEMONIUM (1) found the 1300m at the Kensington track too short when resuming recently, but she did battle on well when the sprint went on and wasn't beaten far. Trial winner since so look for a far better run today out to this trip. WARUNA (4) disappointed last start but is better than that.SELECTIONS: #9 Austria looks very hard to hold out.

Gold Coast Race 3 @ 12:33pm

Wicked Heights and Gratuitous will all be handy from the jump. CONSTRUE (9) raced a well-backed favourite resuming at the mile and will be better for it. He has strong back-form and expect sharp improvement drawn low with Fradd riding first time. WICKED HEIGHTS (1) will cross to the speed and peaks off two wet-track placings. Expect a good run with Lloyd riding first time. QUOTANT (11) will also be fitter and can improve into the finish. PACIFIC CREST (4) will be better this trip and expect quick improvement from the ex Godolphin galloper. SELECTIONS: #9 Construe only has to be close to her best to be winning.

Gawler: Race 4 @ 2:35pm

Dexstra may be the one to lead a race without a lot of tempo. PREDICATED (6) is ex-Weir and resumes as a gelding for the Will Clarken yard. Owns a 6.4L city trial win and can prove too good drawn low. DEXSTRA (4) just missed resuming coming back plenty improved. He won’t have to improve much to be a major role. KHANI STAR (9) and LORD GILBERT (5) both resumes off good trials. Watch the market closely with them. LA VITA (10) had been tracking well before getting too far back the latest. Gets the rail and in the mix. SELECTIONS #6 Predicated has shown ability in Victoria and looks ready to go.

Ballarat: Race 7 @ 3:55pm

PURE COLOUR (12) is racing well this campaign including a last start win. Looks suited at the mile now and expected to go close again. SUPREME HARMONY (4) is progressing well this campaign and can make it three straight. BRONKSI (1) was good fresh and has upside. Drawn well. SENSATIONAL ALLY (14) will give a sight. SELECTIONS: Sticking with Pure Colour.
