Clash Of Promising Sprinters a Kranji Highlight

3 minute read

The clash between progressive sprinters Federation and Lim’s Dream looks a highlight of the Singapore race meeting at Kranji on Friday.

The pair of promising three-year-olds take on a field of older rivals in the class 3 over 1200m.

Written Tycoon gelding Federation has been making good progress this campaign and is yet to finish worse than fourth since his arrival in Singapore.

He scored back-to-back wins at this course and distance then was luckless last start when held up from the 400m to the 200m when runner up to race rival Charger.

Jockey John Powell is forming a good association with Federation having been aboard three times for two wins and the unlucky second last outing.

The pair should get a good run in transit from a low draw and if the gaps open better in the straight than they did last time he has the ratings to go close.

Lim's Dream could be ready to race through his grades after he resumed with an impressive five-length win over 1100m on the all weather.

The switch to turf holds no concerns as the Duporth gelding is already proven on the surface and his other two career wins came at 1200m.

He steps up in grade but he looks capable of handling that after what he did fresh and he has won second-up before so is open to improvement.

Apprentice Syahir Abdul is unbeaten in two rides on Lim's Dream and his 3kg claim sees the gelding well placed at the weights.

The race is far from a two-horse contest with Federation's last-start conqueror Charger again in the mix.

While that race panned out well for him he was still good enough to take advantage and looked strong when racing away late to score by 1.3 lengths.

That win means he has now been successful at his last two attempts on the turf and with the claim of Simon Kok easing his impost by 3kg he is capable of featuring in the finish again.

Safeer was 3.6 lengths behind Charger last time but he had run on strongly to score a last-stride win in this grade at his previous outing.

The four-year-old has had little luck with wide gates of late and while still drawn nine on Friday it is his first single-digit gate since February and gives him his chance to feature.

Good luck and good punting.
