3 minute read

Second day of the Masters series hosts the Winterbottom Stakes and it might just be the race of the carnival.

Trekking winning the Tab Stradbroke Hcp Picture: Racing and Sports

All that said, it is mightily hard to go past Trekking from a great gate and at WFA.

After his Stradbroke win in June and a spell, he was a fast finishing 8th in too short a Moir Stakes, won the Schillaci, backed up and ran a corker in the Everest and then flew home in the Redzel.

From the barrier, you can see Kerrin McEvoy putting him midfield one off the rails and even though it's a competitive field, he has the best finish.

Home Of The Brave plus a few others will set a good tempo and so Trekking's G1 form will kick in late.

Note the stablemate Viridine has been in a few big race contests with Trekking over the last 12 months and every time has been behind him.

However he is going well as we saw in the Doveton Stakes and could easily get into the quinella.

The race prior is the Country Championship Final over the 1200m.

The top two are on win streaks but one has a bit of weight to carry and the other has drawn right off the track.

With that in mind, Concrete Madame gets her opportunity to get back into winning ways.

She was very close to Mr Genoa at Kalgoorlie and has a little weight swing in her favour.

Of even more significance is the addition of Damian Lane. That is only going to help from a lovely barrier. We'll back her each way.
