The Derby lead up is the Melvista Stakes and there could be some value.

Even acknowledging that William Pike has chosen the stable mate, we fancy Midnight Blue could be the better stayer and now at 2200m that can make the difference.

He is by So You Think out of a Zabeel mare and he was so strong at the end of the JC Roberts after dropping back in that race from a good Bunbury maiden win.

Now back to the longer trip, he will get back but will be strong late and being hard fit, it won't take much to be the stronger 3yo.

We are getting a good price about him on Saturday and he might be worth a flutter early doors in the Derby too.

Maybe also multi him up with Tuscan Queen in the WA Oaks.

Over to the last were Ocean's Fifteen can be winning despite the barrier.

He does have gate speed and ran very nicely first up over this course and distance.

All the other main chances are drawn around him so he can work over in that pack and take up a position.

That little weight advantage on them could be the right variance in the end.
