It is Sires day in Perth following the domination in the WATC Derby last week.

Ascot Picture: Racing and Sports

Taking a couple of odds at Ascot and the first is in the Western Australia Cup as former recent eastern stater Lord Fandango is back at two miles.

This was a horse who won a Herbert Power and was a slashing run in the Caulfield Cup.

He's moved out West and resumed this time in straight to 2200m in the Pinjarra Cup, finishing not far from the placings.

So well placed in this race, he meets line up lacking in great depth and he generally improves sharply after that first up effort.

Watch for him to get moving down the river side and build momentum as he is that sort of horse anyway.

The other feature on the day is the WA Sires and fancy there is value away from the favourite in the shape of Chiclett.

She made her debut this course and distance and came from last to finish on the heels of the placings as well.

Backed from 30s to 17s then, she had three trials to be ready and after that run will be fitter again.

By Tavistock, she will probably be better over 2000m but as a 2yo, she can get away with it.

It is hardly a stellar group and nothing comes in with picket fence form so let's back her each way.
