A rise in distance and a strong third-up record see Scallopini well placed at Doomben on Saturday.
The talented sprinter has returned in good form having rattled home to win the Listed Hinkler first up then ran on hard again to place last start, also at stakes level.
Scallopini has won four of seven runs at 1350m and is rarely out of the money at Doomben.
He also flies third up with three wins and two placings from five attempts so should be peaking.
There should be enough early speed to allow him to finish over the top of them in the straight.
A drop in grade from stakes racing should suit Scathing earlier in the program.
He was far from disgraced when finishing fourth at his past two outings at Group 3 level and had scored back-to-back wins before that, one of them at this course and distance.
He hasn't raced for four weeks but has been kept up to the mark with a trial win and looks well placed.
