Best From The West: Belmont – 25th July 2020

After a wet Saturday last time, we might get a slightly better surface for the HG Bolton Sprint meeting.

In that sprint there are a few coming in in excellent form and some with hidden runs to be noted.

One of them is Samizdat who has an eighth on his form page but in reality it was better than that.

He was way back in the field over the 1000m in the Beaufine and simply gave away too much of a start.

Another furlong has to be a great benefit considering his best efforts come in better quality races over further.

Remember he won an Asian Beau beating Regal Power and Perfect Jewel and then was a tough effort in the Railway Stakes.

Happy to be backing him each way against this field.

For the best bet we are backing up on Truly Great following his strong run over the mile.

By Dundeel he has to love the added 600m and the fact he is backing up on a softer track is also a good reference.

He too gave away so much ground last week and closed to within two lengths on the line.

As long as we get a decent speed in the race, William Pike can get him going early and not leaving it late as he chases more records.
