Belmont features the Listed Newmarket on Saturday and a small field awaits.

The best of them according to the handicaps is Free Trade and his career to date suggests this is a perfect kick off race.

He won the provincial Listed sprints earlier in the year in a fashion which will see him well up to this.

The Pinjarra Classic and Bunbury Stakes were won by a combined six lengths.

He has the ability to ride the speed and surge away late. Every chance he can do that again off this alley.

We may have to take odds on (or just into the black late) but he's better than these so fitness seems the only concern.

Taking a little leap of faith earlier on a horse who resumes off a let up at 2000m but we don't mind that in general as it is better than running in incontestable sprints.

The Big Show did just that last campaign and only came good when at 1800m plus.

His Detonator Stakes run was excellent and then ignore the Old Comrade effort as it was not befitting his form.

The son of Frost Giant is not meeting anything of great note and the betting will tell of his fitness levels.

However he could run a very good race against these moderate opponents.
