Sydney Specials: Randwick - 15th August 2020

3 minute read

We return to Randwick on Saturday for Up And Coming Stakes Day, it looks a belter of a race, though I can't say I'm overly enthused by the rest of the program.

Such has been the case at Randwick recently, it's look straight forward on Friday, but has rarely played that way.

There are few nice types stepping out, but they are well found early, very keen to see Masked Crusader back, but couldn't touch him short of even money.

Away from that, North Pacific looks the one to beat in the Up and Coming, but certainly no spoils at the price.

Not sure we learnt much more about him first up, he virtually mirrored what he did on debut and we got served up $2.75.

Takes on much tougher company on Saturday, he's 35 days between runs, up in trip, drawn inside on a heavy track and now you are asked to take $2.25.

I really like the horse, he can certainly win, but I think he trades much better tomorrow, I have him marked $3.

The final event sees the Gary Portelli trained Not Feint Hearted the early favourite off the back of a very impressive win last start.

In his first test beyond 1200m, he exploded saluting easily by 5.5L and gave the clock a nice touch up.

He relished the heavy conditions and no reason to think he can't take another step out to 1400m on Saturday.

O'Hara sticks aboard and he looks to land outside the lead with Off Shaw expected to take it up for Schofield.

Form got given a nice push with Badoosh bolting in on Wednesday and if able to repeat, he should prove very hard to beat, felt he was entitled to be shorter, have him marked 5/2.

Jockey : JAMES MCDONALD a key booking for All Saints' Eve on Saturday. Picture: Steve Hart

The opening event sees the O'Shea trained All Saints' Eve well placed to make a winning return, not seen since finishing a narrow third in the Keith Nolan Classic [1600m].

While yet to be tested on rain affected going, being by Sacred Falls she should swim and judging by her recent trials, she should relish the conditions on Saturday.

Don't think many horses have trialled better and the booking of McDonald is an obvious push.

The inside draw should allow her to take up a prominent position and while scared of Dancing Gidget on the quick back up, feel All Saints' Eve should have her measure.

She made rapid improvement last time in and if able to continue that upward spiral, she should find herself in better races in the Spring.
