Big Hearted To Relish Step Up In Trip

3 minute read

The Michael Clements trained Big Hearted appears well placed to return to the winner's stall when due to contest the seventh event at Kranji on Saturday evening.

Having bumped into Inferno at his last two starts, Big Hearted continues to hit the line well and now appears set to relish the step up to 1800m.

A winner of four of his 10 starts including three minor placings, five of his six career defeats came at the hands of Inferno, two of which he finished second.

After last weekend, no question Inferno is the best horse in Singapore and certainly no knock on that form.

Big Hearted has improved with every run this preparation and should be right at his peak fourth up.

Kept fresh (35 days) since finishing fourth in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas, loved his most recent trial when coasting to the line under Maia.

He is sure to appreciate the drop back in grade and while drawn out, it keeps him out in trouble and he was likely to go back anyway.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he appears very well placed off his most recent effort and clearly brings the A1 form.

Yet to tick the box beyond a mile, but gives the impression he should be even better and should prove very hard to beat.

The Leticia Dragon trained Strong N Powerful has been a model of consistency this time in and is sure to run well again.

He too is on trial at the trip, but also gives the impression he should be better beyond a mile and just never runs a bad race.

Strong N Powerful notably finished ahead of Big Hearted in the Guineas, though he has to concede 3kg, which looks his biggest hindrance.

John Powell links back aboard and from the wide draw he is expected to press forward and be in this for a long way, his latest trial was also very good.

The Lee Freedman trained Made In Russia won well over 1400m last start and if able to stretch that form out to 1800m, he is sure to be right around the mark.

The inside draw could be a bit sticky, as he is likely to get back, however with the aid of the claim, he looks to get every chance and should be strong late.

Of the rest, his stablemate Ocean Crossing appears the next in line.

Good luck and happy punting.
