Capable gelding Scathing looks well placed for a second up win at Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
The Chris Munce-trained four-year-old made a good return at Doomben on Melbourne Cup day when he raced on speed and fought well for a 1L second.
That was his first outing or over four months so it should have improved him having recorded a win and a placing from two previous second up attempts.
Scathing was just behind the placings a couple of times in G3 company last campaign and won his only previous visit to this course so looks suited in this line up.
Rough Habit Plate winner Ballistic Boy can build off an eye-catching return when he lines up in the Mooloolaba Cup later in the program.
Having his first outing since taking out the Group 3 feature back in June, Ballistic Boy settled last but ran on well for a 1L second when resuming over 1350m at Doomben.
He should appreciate the 250m step up in distance and won his only previous attempt at this course so looks hard to hold out.
