A competitive day of racing at Doomben on Saturday with multiple chances in most races so we’ve gone looking for some each way value.
One of those is the progressive sprinter Criminal Defence.
The three-year-old ran on to break his maiden first up and then settled near the tail but was an eye-catcher charging home for fourth last start.
Criminal Defence has plenty of upside so should be better again third up and Larry Cassidy goes on.
He could prove hard to hold out.
Goodonya Sonja should appreciate the return to Doomben later in the program.
She is going better than her form may suggest as she hasn't been too far away in some decent races of late.
The mare kept chasing to get within 1.2L of the winner last start and returns to the course that has produced five of her seven career wins.
She is well drawn and worth an each way ticket.
