Brisbane Best: Eagle Farm – 1st May 2021

3 minute read

Talented three-year-old Private Eye heads north off a stakes placing in Sydney and looks well placed in Saturday’s Queensland Guineas at Eagle Farm.

The Joe Pride-trained gelding was a real eye catcher in the South Pacific Classic last start, settling back over the 1400m journey but running on well for second.

Private Eye should relish the extra 200m and won his only previous third up attempt so will be peaking.

Brenton Avdulla goes back on having won both previous rides on him and the pair looks tough to hold out.

Guntantes is another with a sense of timing earlier in the program.

He has been hitting the line well this preparation and now gets to the right distance having won three of his four previous attempts at the mile.

He will be hitting his peak fourth up and should get a soft run from the inside draw so if he can get clear air when it matters he could be too strong.
