Best From The West: Belmont – 22nd May 2021

Belmont is back hosting racing for the Winter and there are good sized fields to feature later in the day.

With rain predicted that will cause a further change to the form set up.

One horse who will handle that no issue is the mare Bright Diamond who comes back in Race 5.

She has three wins from four runs for the big team and all came on this course this time last year.

Two were on soft going, including the first up win, and knowing she's won over 1400m means we're dealing with a strong enough girl.

Two trials to be ready has her primed and William Pike will have her close enough from the gate to strike through the line.

Onto the last where a big field around here could be tricky late for backmarkers so sitting around the pace would be a fair policy.

Aberdeen Queen draws right off the track but thinking Brad Rawiller might want to at least be getting some cover in the moving lane rather than snagging back to last.

The first up win was very sound and consider her record on softer tracks is even better.

When mares comeback to racing like that it is a positive sign, especially after not being so good the prep before.

We can back her each way at a decent price.
