The final group race of the season in Perth is the Strickland Stakes and while short on numbers has many angles for the punters.
There is no question The Velvet King was unlucky in the lead up Hyperion Stakes. Drawing low and being in the gates for a while didn't help his chances. But that could well happen again.
So we want to have something on the mare now who gets to the right trip and was well supported in that race.
Leading Girl had her crack at this sort of grade in that race and was more than acceptable.
Being by Reliable Man, every bit of the 2000m will be her domain as she gets older and while she will give away a start, clearly she has turn of foot to overcome that.
Her one attempt at this was a win coming from near last. That is a fair foundation.
William Pike will hope the speed will be generous enough from Dance Music and few others as that will provide her the best opportunity.
Then to the last where we have to give ONE more chance to Bright Diamond .
Since her spell she has been an odds on favourite twice and could only place twice in those.
However she is finally race fit after that long time off prior to those efforts.
Whether the weather arrives in time to affect the track really badly is not known but it is still a 'Winter Soft' right now.
Her two attempts on that type of surface were wins. She may simply enjoy that give under her feet.
